Thoughts on the final edit
After watching the final edit of the Music Video - I am extremely proud of how far the group has come in terms of planning and editing.
In this final editing lesson, we just tweeked a few errors to make sure that our music video remained at a high level and there was not any outstanding things that needed changing.
The sky garden scene
There were a few things that need to be changed in the sky garden scene.
I had to make sure that the consistency in colour ran throughout the sky garden scene and there were parts that were still unedited. To resolve this, I put a brightness and contrast effect over the video and just decreased the brightness and increased the contrast. This made the city lights stand out more and not look as dull as it did in ( on the left hand side). This wasnt much of a problem due to the fact that there were no faces in the clip, previously we had the issue of darkening the clip so much that it affected facial features and looked obvious that it was edited.
Adding an adjustment layer
When watching over the flashback, we ran into a problem of the brightness and contrast not being consistent throughout. To overcome this problem we added an adjustment layer ( in pink). What this does is add the same effect over a multitude of clips. In this instance we were able to set the brightness and contrast for all the clips in the flashback as it all had the same feel that we wanted to get across. This again made it look less like we manipulated the colouring.
Replacing out of focus clips
Due to the fact we were filming behind a glass, in dark conditions and with a 50mm lense - it was hard for the camera to focus at a point which sometimes produced blurred clips. We placed some of the clips in the video as we thought it would work - but in the end we shortened the clips so you are unable to see the out of focus parts.
